I was extemely fortunate to work with Brianna and her family for her Quinceañera. Brianna has nice skin already, but the airbrush makeup evened out her skintone. For her eyes I did a smokey plum look, which went beautifully with her princess pink gown. Airbrush makeup is ideal for matching any skintone, and you can see that Brianna's beautiful face perfectly matches her chest and arms Brianna's sister chose a more dramatic smokey eye, which looks beautiful on dark brown eyes. Two more of my beautiful Quinceañeras in the photos below:

Two questions I get all the time - "What is airbrush makeup?" and "Why should I hire a professional airbrush makeup artist for my wedding?" So, here's my "3 P's" of airbrush makeup - Product: Airbrush makeup is a very thin liquid makeup, much thinner than traditional makeup, which makes it very easy to mix several colors together and customize to match any skintone. Airbrush makeup is also highly pigmented, giving true and rich color without looking "caked on." There are several professional brands; I use Temptu. Process: Airbrush makeup is applied through an airbrush gun, a tool that allows the custom blended makeup to pass through as a light, cooling mist of air on the face. Coverage can be sheer, or built upon to cover scars, tattoos, and blemishes. Perks: #10 no streaking, #9 no fading, #8 sheer OR full coverage #7 won't transfer - won't rub off on your hubby's tux, #6 sweatproof - great for Arizona heat, #5 waterproof - can stand up to all those tears, #4 never cakey #3 hypoallergenic spray, #2 FAST - makeup is sprayed on in minutes without the need for endless blending, and the #1 all time reason to use airbrush makeup on your wedding day - it LASTS ALL DAY!! -no need for touch-ups!!

As with any makeup application, airbrush makeup looks best with clean, moisturized skin. Your skincare routine doesn't have to be complex, just cleanse, moisturize, exfoliate. 1. Cleanse - Take it all off I like Philosophy's Purity Made Simple cleanser - it is very gentle and puts moisture back into your skin so it doesn't feel tight and itchy after washing. I also like Olay's Daily Facial Cloths - also non-drying and removes all trace of eye makeup in one step 2. Exfoliate - Get rid off dead skin & renew If you take off your makeup at night, all you would need to do is exfoliate in your morning shower. The trick here is not to grind this into your face, but to slowly move product over face in circular motions for 2 minutes. I read in Allure once that what matters is how long you exfoliate. A good one is Burt's Bees Peach & Willowbark Scrub 3. Moisturize - Put moisture back in I know, I know, nobody wants to feel like they're putting grease on their face, so I always have twenty-something brides try Philosophy's Hope in a Jar - super light-weight but very hydrating it is always a top fave on beauty editor lists and Sephora's #1 seller several years in a row. I have been using this one (Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation) for weeks for both daytime and nighttime and love, love, love it! Very light and sheer - goes on and absorbs like water - but with wonderful hydration. This is definitely worth a try for you non-believers! If your skin tends to be very dry, try Korres' 24 -Hour Wild Rose Moisturizer For airbrush makeup to work well, skin needs to be moisturized. A lot of brides skip this to try to dry out blemishes or think that moisturizing will cause them to break out. The reality is that your skin needs moisture and it will actually produce more oil if you don't, and you'll end up with breakouts and rough, flaky patches Additional skin preparation tips: 1) Don't wait until your wedding month to try facials and waxing. You need to try them a few months out to make sure you don't get reactions or redness, so that you're not dealing with that on your wedding day. 2) Eyebrow shaping should be done no earlier than two weeks out from your date. Your eyebrows will still have their nice shape, but you won't have any lingering redness you might have if they are done only a week out. 3) Bring examples of makeup looks that you like to your makeup trial. This will ensure that your makeup artist knows how dramatic or natural you want to look.

There were some very warm, and some very cold days here in Arizona in the month of April, and from 7am to 12 midnight, airbrush makeup served my April brides well!

Myth#1: Airbrush Makeup will streak or run if it gets wet.
Not if the airbrush makeup is silicone-based. In contrast to water-based makeup, which most kinds of traditional liquid makeup and some kinds of airbrush makeup are water-based, silicone makeup does not run or streak. However, airbrush makeup MUST be dried completely. I run air on my client's face for five minutes after initial application to make sure the airbrush foundation is COMPLETELY dry. Once set, airbrush makeup doesn't come off until you take it off.
Myth #2 Brides should use traditional makeup because it is easier to touch up throughout the day.
It's true that you can touch up traditional makeup with a sponge or foundation brush (although make sure you've used a microfine setting powder instead of pressed powder to set it, or it may look cakey). Airbrush makeup cannot be touched up because, once set, it is immovable on your face (sweat, tears, other environmental factors will not cause it to shift on your face). So, basically, you DON'T NEED touch ups with airbrush makeup.
